Congratulations to June Chan, an Honours student here in the School of Accounting. June is the recipient of the 2008 CPA Australia Ethics Competition Essay.
Ken Trotman has received the American Accounting Association’s 2009 Accounting Behavior and Organizations Section, Notable (Lifetime) Contribution Award.
Professor Wai Fong Chua has received the 2009 AFAANZ Outstanding Contribution to Accounting and Finance Research Literature Award, in recognition of the distinguished contribution she has made to accounting research.
The 2008 Peter Brownell Manuscript award was awarded to Philip Brown from University of New South Wales and University of Western Australia and Alex Szimayer from Fraunhofer ITWM, Germany.
Linda Chang was nominated by the School of Accounting based on her publication, with Dr Mandy Cheng and Prof Ken Trotman, in the journal Accounting, Organizations and Society. This is an outstanding achievement for an academic in accounting at the Lecturer level.
Nominations for the awards were considered by a panel of nine people including a previous winner, a student representative, L&T specialists, an Associate Dean (Education) in an external Faculty, the ASB Associate Dean (Education) and the ASB Dean.
Dr Balatbat, a Senior Lecturer in the School of Accounting, has organized the Symposium on Global Carbon Finance and Market to be held in Singapore on 24-26 June 2009 in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University.
Christina's paper, "Enhanced business reporting: International trends and
possible policy directions", was published in the Journal of Human Resource Costing & Accounting.
Professor Brown, who has concurrent appointments in the Schools of Accounting, and Banking and Finance at UNSW and at UWA, is also an honorary visiting professor at Lancaster University. The Leverholme grant is a graphic recognition of Professor Brown’s research on corporate governance with Dr Beekes, which they began in 2002.
Fei Lu, a PhD student in the School of Accounting selected as the single Australian (AFAANZ) nominee to the American Accounting Association (AAA) Doctoral Consortium in Lake Tahoe, June 2009.
